There are several methods of obtaining cheap airfare and people planning to travel either during the summer or any time of the year are advised to explore how to obtain the best affordable airfare. Any honest observer of cheap airfare will admit that its own ugly side, which is now the norm, is the regular overbooking of flight seats. There is no point sulking about this situation, rather what you should do is take advantage of it by getting a discounted airfare out of it. One way to do this is to telephone the airline or travel agent and inquire about the status of the flight, as this will tell you if it’s overbooked or otherwise. If your flight is overbooked, then you must swing fast into action and ensure you get to the airport well ahead of time in order to be at the head of the line! Because airlines are legally obligated to ask for volunteers before dropping passengers, you should volunteer to be dropped, but only after being given a discounted airfare. The moment you get the concession, go right ahead and invoke what most airline staff are very conversant with; rule number 240 which states that the next available flight should be yours. Another way to obtain cheap airfare is by checking the special offers sections on the websites of airlines before making any booking, as these are loaded with many discounted airfare offers. A third strategy that can be deployed to obtain cheap airfare is to select different major airports that are close to your destination, in fact it can also help you turn a hitherto expensive trip into a cheap one. An example goes thus: a passenger whose final destination is Montreal can choose to drop at New York’s JFK airport and then cover the rest of the journey by road; the amount this can save him is definitely worth the trouble. |
